Well written passage. Traveling is going to be one heck of journey at least in the near future it seems. World was running towards very selfish existence. This virus has put a break on that and makes one to ponder and take a bigger picture in life. Being creatures of habit, lessons will be learnt slowly.

Thanks, Jay!!!! So much to ponder, isn't it? And so many other challenges exist for those in the front lines.

Enjoyed reading the essay. Loved the bit about the comforter- had not thought about that. Thanks for sharing your experience

Loved reading your letter. I would think stuffing a comforter into a duvet cover would be one hell of a task. My maid has always done it & I have never given it a shot 🤣 Amazed to read about Singapore’s approach to COVID containment. Looking forward to reading your other letters.

Very well written, Kalpana - as always. Though we live here it was interesting to read about how Singapore is handling the Covid crisis. We are seeing Singapore through your eyes 😊.

Hi: I am wondering if substack allows you to add pictures to the letters. They can anchor the text visually and mentally for a lazy reader like me. Needless to say, I subscribed to the newsletter!

Hi Rama, Thank you so much for reading and writing. Yes, indeed, Substack allows it and has a whole lot of cool features from what I can tell. The problem is I'm trying to fix an issue on my Macbook. It's simply not seeing all my pictures on the desktop. I'm hoping to fix the problem before my next post.

Love the subtlety of comparisons and criticisms of the different approaches to handling the crises and the poignancy it evokes...

Beautiful piece Kalpana. As always, your writing draws the reader in, painting a picture as if we were there. Mask on, volume off! Love the slogan. Yes, travel will be different. Yes, get-togethers will be different. But feelings will be the same. Look forward to hearing more of your travels. Stay safe.

Great piece. I was shocked about the food. Before reading this I thought it was impossible to find bad food in Singapore.
