I’ll be interested to see how you feel about the rest of the novels in the series. I loved the first and second ones, but as these girls turn into women, I found the narrative to become less passionate, more complaining, and finally dissolving into selfish behavior and whining. But then, what do guys know?
Haha, that is interesting:-) I'm now reading the second. Thanks, Peter, amazed you've finished the series! What keeps me reading is to see how "monsters" are created, I guess. Last evening I picked up nonfiction by Ferrante (four essays) yesterday and it's actually something getting a peek into her world.
I wonder if some of the emotions that are talked about in your writeup are at play among some close female friends that we know 🤔 Food for thought 🤷♂️
My daughter has been raving about the Elene Ferrante books and couldn't read them fast enough. She has been urging me to read them and I have been dragging my heels, reluctant to let go and plunge myself into that world...I don't know why! I know I will, soon enough, and your lovely review will surely spur me on as well.
