This past week I joined my husband on his work trip to Seattle and while I brought along my homework for LETTERS FROM EVERYWHERE, I ended up reading only a fourth of the assigned novel.
There was another reason, however. I’m on a work marathon (along with many others) inspired by #1000wordsofsummer by writer
and my goal is to have a 60,000 word draft of my third book by August 15.Working on vacation has been hard. Distractions abound in so many forms but I’ve tried hard to keep up. I prioritized my writing and told myself that reading may have to take a back seat, especially when I was surrounded by great coffee and so much natural beauty.
This Spanish writer I’m reading is one of the most exciting authors I’ve read and I know I’ll be getting my hands on all his works now. I can’t talk about him yet but I certainly can share a few pictures of my week in this bountiful state!
And just like that, I’m going to Seattle, too. Have iPad/sketchbook, will travel. It’s funny how people will accept my sitting and chatting with a pencil/stylus in hand, but they never would if I picked up a book in their presence. Here’s to social multitasking.
