HOOKED!

The eponymous title of a Japanese novel in translation has me hooked.

The spring and summer of 2026 have been challenging. I decided that the only way I was going to make any progress in my current book was if I dedicated my time to my work. It has paid off. I’m done with 20,000 words which, I think are ready to be sent. (Tomorrow I’ll be of a different mindset)

I’m trying to read two books a month and that has been hard. HOOKED is only my second book in translation this month and I’m only halfway through this gripping book. Translated so elegantly from the Japanese by Polly Barton, Asako Yuzuki’s HOOKED is such a delight. I’m waiting to write about it in some detail over the next few days.
